How to Solve the Data Integration Problem Forever

0 February 14, 2018

Maxxphase is solving one of the greatest challenges businesses face today. Maxxphase has created a permanent 21st century solution to the data integration problem.

Traditional data integration methods that rely upon data movement saddle a business with supporting periodic data movement and transformations forever. The need for real-time business analytics is also challenged as information is held in the source systems waiting to be moved.

Every year, these traditional methods consume a larger portion of IT resources as more integration is required to support ever-growing business needs.

Conflicts in master data representations among information systems are the cause of the information system integration problem. These conflicts among systems do not allow computers to form reliable data access paths or “links” between information systems.

Without these reliable links, these conflicted information systems are isolated, incompatible and often characterized as data silos. Whenever information is required from multiple silos, traditional data integration methods were needed.

Setting the Standard for Data Integration

Maxxphase Data Compatibility Standards are a standards-based data integration method. These standards are designed to make any—and all—information systems compatible by resolving the master data representation conflicts.

Any facts from a compatible information system are integrated, in place, with the facts from any other compatible information system. There’s no need for data movement software or middleware to combine information from multiple compatible information systems.

Therefore, without software intervention, the interactions between information systems are directly interoperable. Each compatible information system becomes an integral component in a single continuous data environment linked by reliable data access paths.

Once an information system has been made compatible, it will remain compatible and therefore integrated with any and all other compatible systems. New facts added to compatible information systems today or in the future will be automatically integrated—that is, integrated from the second they are stored and remaining integrated until they are deleted.

Comparison With Traditional Data Integration

By contrast, traditional data integration methods that require data movement software will always require periodic data extracts and movement between information systems. These periodic extracts and data movement are normally initiated on a daily basis but can be initiated for other time periods as required. These extracts need to be processed periodically from the implementation of the integration software until the integrated information is no longer required.

Also, all data that is to be integrated must be copied from the source information systems. In essence, integration requires multiple copies of the same data now stored in multiple systems throughout the organization. This volume of information and the complexity of modern integration greatly limits the scope of information that may be integrated using traditional methods.

Where We Stand

Maxxphase Data Compatibility Standards add a focus on forming directly interoperable information systems, whether these information systems were implemented in the past or will be implemented in the future.

Existing information systems will be retrofitted with the standards. Future information systems will be compatible with past information systems, provided they both use Maxxphase Data Compatibility Standards. Maxxphase Data Compatibility creates a long term growth-ready information infrastructure for your business.
